Crystal Mcrae, DVM, CVC
Dr. Crystal McRae provides comprehensive ongoing support that keeps horses performing and training to their full potential in any discipline. She believes in a whole body approach to the health of the equine athlete. Certification in both chiropractic and acupuncture compliments the western medicine approach to lameness and musculoskeletal health.
Dr. Crystal is in the process of pursuing certification with the International Society for Equine Locomotor Pathology (ISELP). The ISELP program is world renowned in education for equine veterinarians in Equine Sports Medicine. Dr. Crystal is a California native who went through veterinary school at UC Davis and landed in the lovely state of Washington for her internship in equine surgery & medicine at our regional equine referral center, Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital in Snohomish.
Gwen Bowman, Veterinary assistant
Gwen’s kind and confident nature with horses allows you to relax so you can understand the doctor’s thought process and also see how your horse is moving. She performs the horse handling to keep us safe and your horses happy. Gwen also has a wonderful buckskin Quarter Horse named Witty. Gwen’s goal within equine medicine is to become a certified equine massage therapist.
Liz Sharpe, Veterinary REceptionist
My name is Liz. I graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in Animal science. During college, I completed the Kentucky Equine Management Internship (KEMI) in Kentucky and fell in love with working on Thoroughbred breeding farms. After Graduating, I moved to Kentucky and worked on breeding farms managing foaling barns, sales prepping and lay ups. After returning to Washington state I have transitioned to working as a veterinary receptionist and now Practice Manager for Solas Equine Veterinary.
I am able to assist with scheduling appointments, helping with medication requests/refills, taking payments and assisting with records. I am happy to help problem solve and help clients get solutions and answers to an issue that come up with their horses.
I currently live with my 2 children, 2 German Shepherds, quail, rabbits and chickens. I enjoy hanging out with my kids, working outside, gardening and canning.
Lexie Priest
My name is Lexie! I have over 20 years of riding experience and more than a decade of experience with three-day eventing.
At Sólás Equine Veterinary, I work as a veterinary technician. I enjoy learning and applying new techniques to help horses feel their best. My responsibilities include preparing horses and equipment for procedures, recording information for medical records, and assisting during appointments. Each day presents new challenges and opportunities to grow, and I thrive in this dynamic environment.
When I’m not working at Sólás Equine, I’m an FEI eventing groom for Anni Grandia-Dodson at Grand Farms, where I have the opportunity to work closely with top-level horses and riders. As a Pony Club graduate, I hold a C2 Eventing certification and have set my sights on earning the HB Horse Management certification in 2025.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending my time with my two cats, Cheeto Puff and Yzma May, and my boyfriend, Leland. In the future, I plan to further my education by pursuing a degree in veterinary technology. My goal is to pass the VTNE and become a licensed veterinary technician, enabling me to provide even better care for the horses I love.
Kaylee Petticord
Hello! My name is Kaylee Petticord, I’m 20 years old, I have had horses in my life since I was five. I have been eventing since age 9. I now ride and event my OTTB mare at the FEI 2* level, along with training young horses. With my experiencing including 5 years in Pony Club and 6 years in the Young Rider Program, I have gained extensive knowledge in horse care and management. I am confident I can help keep your horse happy and healthy working alongside Dr. Crystal.
There’s nothing I love more than helping horses. They do so many incredible things for us and it’s so important to do the same for them. From helping figure out why your horse is nervous to figuring out that mystery lameness, I’m there for you and your horse every step of the way!
Shaylynn Vose
My name is Shaylynn and I have over 12 years of experience working with horses. Currently, I'm pursuing my Equine Massage Therapist license through Northwest School of Animal Massage on Vashon Island. My background includes three years in 4-H, four years on my high school equestrian team, and the last two years as an assistant horse trainer.
My goal is to ensure your horse remains happy and healthy, allowing you to fully enjoy your time together. I also prioritize keeping your horse calm and comfortable while Dr. Crystal provides treatment, creating a stress-free experience for both of you.
I have a deep love for all animals, and my passion for horses has always shaped my career aspirations. I spend most of my time with my two beloved horses, Eve and Hooch, and my sweet dog Nola, who bring me immense joy and fulfillment. My passion for their well-being drives everything I do.
